Cutcenes
I was initially going to animate the comic strips I had drawn out using After affects, however due to the lack of time I decided to just cut them up and put them in bit by bit as a still image. I coloured the images on Paint Tool Sai. Here is an example of two of the panels.
Presentation 2
I decided to go with the World Ends With You idea of using speech bubbles. I made the speech bubbles are large and transparent and are different colours for each character.
Sprites and backgrounds
I created sprite sheets for each character and depending for who long they are in it for effects how many sprites there are on each sheet. For example the main chracters have a7 expressions while the minor chracter has 4.
I need two backgrounds for my narrative, one outside a church and one inside it.
character designs
With my main character I tired making his design so I could turn the spirte around and he would still look the same when I flipped the sprite. I wanted unatual colours for his hair and eyes, just to show he isn't completely human. The colours of his clothes also reflect that those he used to wear.
I kept the whole idea for unnatural hair and eye colours for this character too. He's supposed to be dead so the stitches are were he has sown the skin back together after getting hurt and not being able to heal like a living human would do.
Presentation
For how I present my narrative I decided to use sprites. I looked into games such as the Phoenix Wright series, The World Ends With You and the Persona series. I felt that I would be able to make it easier to make a lot of images quickly and efficiently. I decided to base the sprites more off World Ends With You.
The way I initially laid out my screenshots were heavily inspired by World Ends With You. The spirtes were as well. Unlike in Persona 4, there is more of the spirtes showing. Where as the sprites in the Persona 4 game are shown from the shoulders up, TWEWY shows the characters from the waist up, allowing for more exagerated expressions rather than just changing the face. This can also be said for the sprites in Persona 3.
Here is an example of my first layout. I went for Persona style by having the text box underneath the characters.
Another example is one based more off World Ends With You. I used speech bubbles placed in between the characters rather than a text box.

Initial Idea
Narrative blog.
Initial idea.
I decided to go with a supernatural theme for my narrative. My idea was that the two main characters are detectives of sorts that investigate strange phenomenon. The story starts off outside an abandoned church, the two main characters bicker while waiting for a witness to arrive, once she arrives it is made clear that there is something in the church that is attacking people who go there. However the witness, for whatever reason has been left unharmed.
The main characters also have connections to the supernatural. One of them in a vampire, the other is the incarnation of Death but has forgotten his time as such. This isn't expanded much on in the narrative as it is only supposed to be a small part of the larger plot.

I researched into folklore for this narrative particularly lore revolving around the ghosts known as Black Dogs and another legend that branches off from that which is known as a Church Grim which is a creature from the times of early Christianity.
