Initial Idea

Narrative blog.

Initial idea.
I decided to go with a supernatural theme for my narrative. My idea was that the two main characters are detectives of sorts that investigate strange phenomenon. The story starts off outside an abandoned church, the two main characters bicker while waiting for a witness to arrive, once she arrives it is made clear that there is something in the church that is attacking people who go there. However the witness, for whatever reason has been left unharmed.

The main characters also have connections to the supernatural. One of them in a vampire, the other is the incarnation of Death but has forgotten his time as such. This isn't expanded much on in the narrative as it is only supposed to be a small part of the larger plot.

I researched into folklore for this narrative particularly lore revolving around the ghosts known as Black Dogs and another legend that branches off from that which is known as a Church Grim which is a creature from the times of early Christianity.

The interesting thing about the legends is that they differ, especially the ones about the Black Dogs. Some legends say they are evil while some say that they are benevolent. For example there is said to be a ghost dog in Betchworth castle that prowls around at night and attacks anyone who trespasses. Another says that there is a black dog in Norfolk who will follow young women home at night to make sure they get back safely.
